Kicks for Kids!

    Giving away is one of the greatest privileges of this job. I know that might sound unusual, but it truly is an honor. Today, I am thrilled to announce our fourth annual "Kicks for Kids" shoe drive. This event is not only a community favorite but also a deeply meaningful project that brings immense joy and support to children in need.

What is "Kicks for Kids"?

    "Kicks for Kids" is an incredible initiative where we essentially take over Rack-Room Shoes for two days. During this time, we bring over 600 children into the store and let them pick out whatever shoes they want. It’s the most fun and crazy event that we do! The excitement and happiness on the kids’ faces are indescribable.

The Magic of Giving

    We aim to raise about $30,000 for this event, partnering with a local church to help us reach our goal. This collaboration allows us to provide a memorable shopping experience for the kids. Let me share a couple of heartwarming stories that truly capture the spirit of "Kicks for Kids."

    A few years ago, a little boy named Billy came into the store. With wide eyes and a curious expression, he approached me and asked, "Excuse me, ma'am, what is my budget?" I smiled and replied, "Well, you have no budget. You can pick anything in the whole store." His eyes lit up with disbelief and joy as he exclaimed, "Anything in the WHOLE store?!" The excitement and gratitude in his voice were palpable, and it’s moments like these that make all the hard work worthwhile.

    Another unforgettable memory is of a mother of seven who was in tears as all her children were able to get new shoes for the first time. She shared that times were tough and getting shoes for everyone had been impossible. Seeing the relief and happiness on her face was incredibly moving.

Why "Kicks for Kids" Matters

    I believe in this project because we know that these kids need help. Providing them with new shoes is more than just fulfilling a basic need; it’s about giving them confidence, comfort, and a sense of belonging. It’s about showing them that their community cares and is here to support them.
