2024 Has Been Insane!

     As 2024 comes to a close, I can’t help but look back and say — this year has been absolutely crazy. On a personal level, it’s been full of challenges, unexpected twists, and some big decisions that turned out to change my life for the better. I wanted to share this story with you because maybe, just maybe, it will inspire you to take a step forward in your own life.

The Condo We Loved (and Why We Left)

     At the start of the year, my family and I were living in a beautiful condo on the river, and let me tell you — we loved that place. The views, the lifestyle, the location… it all felt perfect. But as I’ve talked about in some of my other blogs and videos, the writing was on the wall when it came to condos here in Florida.

     With new regulations, rising costs, and mounting maintenance issues in the condo market, I could just feel it in my heart: it was time to go.

     We made a bold decision. We bought a fixer-upper in Royal Oak, thinking it would be a great move and a fun project. Well, let me tell you, “fun project” is a massive understatement.

The Fixer-Upper Adventure (aka “Should We Burn It Down?”)

     When we walked through the Royal Oak house for the first time, we thought it was a gem — full of potential, ready for a little love. We were excited about what it could become. But reality hit fast and hard.

     From the moment we moved in, the challenges started piling up:

     Water rising to the front door after heavy rain.

     A full-on termite invasion that we had to battle.

     Foundation issues so bad that at one point, we honestly joked about burning the place down and starting over.

     It was an adventure, to say the least. I’ve seen some tough houses in real estate, but living in one? That was a whole different experience.

Why It Was Worth It

     Despite the chaos, the repairs, and the tears, it was worth every moment. When all was said and done, this move turned out to be one of the best financial decisions we’ve ever made.

Here’s what it gave us:

   Debt-free living: We paid off our house, which is life-changing.

   A stable home: After fixing all the issues, we had a solid roof over our heads that we could truly call our own.

   Financial peace of mind: No more big mortgage payments, no more stress.

At the end of the day, this house became everything we dreamed it could be.
