Does Fall Hurt the Value of my House?

October 3, 2022

Happy Fall, y'all! That's what they say down here in the South, let me tell you, the Fall is a great time to put your house on the market and let me tell you why, because these leaves- these amazing leaves, what do they feel like? Home, right?

And so buying a house is so emotional that things like fall decorations or even Christmas decorations make you fall in love with a house, they make you fall in love with the idea that one day your family might actually come in and celebrate fall here, and so think about this as a time of the year that's highly emotional. We added things like apple cinnamon candles, right? Cinnamon brooms, who doesn't love a good cinnamon broom from Publix?

They're the best, right, and so all of these things add value to the house, not necessarily the value the appraiser is going to give you because they're just black and white, but the value that someone looking for a house is gonna love, so if they walk through and your house is beautifully decorated for the fall, but it's pretty similar to the house across the street that is not decorated, guess what, they're probably gonna pick yours for the simple fact that it feels like home, and you know as Dorothy said, there's no place like home.

Well, there's the scoop, Edna Wilson, your Hometown Realtor, as Hometown as Apple Pie.
